“SYNCRETIC BIO-SHELTERS – Collection to survive extreme environments” kicks off on October 5th. We are delighted to welcome Jovana Gunjova, Paula Meier — selected by Materahub — to co-create the tech-enabled wearables of the future designed to tackle climate change! Antonia Ablass will join them as a cooperating artist.

Jovana Gunjova is a fashion designer from North Macedonia. Her practice explores the relationship between the body, materials, and the senses, with a particular focus on sustainable and biodegradable materials. She works closely with the unexpected behaviours of materials, exploring how clothing can extend beyond its traditional role as a garment to become a second skin, a form of protection, and a sensory connection between the body and its environment.

Paula Meier is a nomad maker originally from Catalonia (Spain) and a digital fabrication artist working between craft and technology. She works as a lab manager and project manager in makerspaces and cultural spaces around Europe, running open workshops in 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, digital and hand embroidery, weaving, and screen printing, alongside ongoing experiments with biomaterials and natural fibres.

Antonia Ablass is a German textile designer who, early in her textile design studies, began exploring the potential of textiles to reintroduce nature into clothing and the built environment. Since then, she deepened her understanding of plant physiology, wildlife, and human–nature relationships. She will join the artists’ team thanks to the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs exchange program, hosted at “Crea che Ricrea” by Angela (Lina) Ramundo, a master artisan from Matera who will contribute to the residency with other local artists and community members.
