Materahub is delighted to join the inaugural conference of SMART-HUBs project, marking the official launch of this significant initiative. The event will take place on September 24, 2025, at the Archaeological Museum of Patras in Patras, Greece, commencing at 9:00 a.m.
What is SMART-HUBs?
SMART-HUBs is a collaborative project funded by the Interreg Greece-Italy program. Its core mission is to address the issue of NEETs (youth not in employment, education, or training), with a particular focus on empowering young women. The project aims to bridge the skills gap by offering training and opportunities within the burgeoning cultural and tourism sectors. By developing the skills of this often-overlooked demographic, SMART-HUBs seeks to boost employment prospects and foster sustainable regional development.
The Strategic Role of Materahub
A key component of the SMART-HUBs initiative is the strategic leadership provided by Materahub that will be at the forefront of two critical project areas. Firstly, it will be responsible for coordinating and developing a cross-border training program for project areas. This program will focus on innovative management methods and technologies within the cultural and creative tourism sector. Secondly, Materahub will lead the creation and implementation of a joint cross-border innovative tourism e-learning platform. This platform will leverage big data sharing and artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate access to culture through digitalization and provide targeted e-services for capacity building, education, and training to a wide range of users.
The speakers
The opening conference will be a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the SMART-HUBs project, its strategic objectives, and the positive impact it aims to create. The conference will feature keynote speakers from a diverse range of partners organizations, including:
- Regional Development Fund of RWG
- Chamber of Aetoloakarnania
- Zakynthos Chamber of Commerce
- Municipality of Nardò
- Materahub
- Municipality of Maida
The speakers will share insights into how this cross-border collaboration between Greece and Italy will contribute to building a more inclusive and prosperous future for the involved areas. Notably, Materahub will deliver an intervention on “Transversal and digital competences for innovating CCIs and tourism economy in the Euro-Med region.”, that will emphasize the critical importance of these skills and highlight existing key initiatives that are already making an impact, such as the Cultour Data, TTrase and Crop projects, as well as the Materahub Academy.
