project description
The core ambition of drOp, a Horizon Europe project, is the development of an integrated renovation methodology (IRM) aiming to transform social housing districts into inclusive smart neighbourhoods.
It mainly aims to promote social innovation and boost the local economy, and with that purpose drOp will adopt a human-centred approach, will integrate innovative technologies and will explore the growth creation potential of cultural and creative industries.
goals
Social innovation
The lack of residents’ involvement was a barrier in many approaches. drOp wants to involve the neighbours and really co-create and co-design with them. The social fabric of the neighbourhood should be part of the whole renovation process.
Local economic development
Another main goal is to go further in the renovation process. This is to find out how can it foster and promote new business models and services, as well as opportunities for existing local actors, to ultimately improve the residents’ quality of life.
Peer-learning method
The two peer cities will each contribute with their expertise in implementing this method: Matera will introduce its experience around the cultural and creative industries, and Elva will bring the example of a digitally advanced city. The results will then enrich the IRM.
