Call to craft practitioners – participate in the Craft Hub International Exhibition that will showcase the skill and innovation of contemporary craft and visit 7 European destinations from April – November 2023.
Deadline for submissions: 28th February 2023
In 2023, Craft Hub will be celebrating and showcasing the skill and innovation of contemporary craft makers in an International Exhibition. The exhibition will commence in the beautiful city of Matera, Italy in April 2023, before proceeding to venues in Greece, Germany, Portugal, Ireland, Wales, with the final exhibition in Norway in October 2023.
The exhibition will feature work from across the whole spectrum of craft techniques and uses an anonymous selection process, giving emerging artists an equal opportunity to be selected alongside the established makers.
We are delighted to invite Craft Makers to submit an application to be a part of this exhibition and we are seeking a broad range of pieces that link to the themes of experimentation, heritage, craft and sustainability.
Submissions are invited from all skilled makers; those with exhibition experience, and those quiet makers who are stepping into the limelight for the first time.
The requirements are:
- work in clay, glass, metal, wood, textiles, paper, or other craft materials
- creating original work
- demonstrating accomplished skill and artistic merit
- work made in collaboration with other makers is welcome.
The selected pieces will be broken into two categories:
- Category 1 is a selection of Showcases which will go on International Tour across the EU partner countries.
- Category 2 is a selection of Showcase pieces which will be exhibited in one Country only.
A small range of selected craft professionals will be invited to travel as part of the exhibition to speak at the official launches of the various exhibitions.
An independent panel of craft experts will assess the submission and as part of the exhibition process a prize fund of €2,500 will be awarded with prizes presented at the Festival of Craft which is scheduled to take place in Wales in September 2022.
